Radon, Well Water and Septic: Inspections in Chester County

Chester County sits on geology where elevated radon readings are common, and much of Kennett Township is on private well and on-lot septic. None of this should scare you off, it just needs to be handled properly.

Radon

Testing is inexpensive and mitigation systems are a well-understood fix. Many Kennett-area homes already have one installed. Test regardless of what the seller reports.

Well

A full evaluation includes flow rate and water quality testing for bacteria, nitrates and other contaminants. Lenders on certain loan types require specific tests, so check early.

Septic

Have the tank pumped and inspected, and review any county records for the system's age, size and drain field. Repair or replacement is expensive enough that it belongs in your negotiation, not your surprises.
